The red moon is a visual effect given that appears immediately after moonrise, or before the morning. As other visual effects given by the moon, the red color is given by the rays of light reflected by the moon from the sun, before reaching the surface of the earth again. The rays of light have to pass through the atmosphere, and because of the multiple dust and pollution particles from this atmosphere, the moon appears in a red color. Actually, the rays of light reflected from the moon are blue, yellow, orange and mostly white, but because red is stronger, it can get through the polluted atmosphere, while the rest of color specters are eliminated.
